Word of the Day
Pretentious
Someone who’s pretentious, shouldn’t be trusted. Somebody’s who’s pretentious, thinks they’re better than everyone else. Well, newsflash pretentious snob, YOU’RE NOT! Some books try to dress themselves in nice wrapping and try to impress us. Don’t fall for these. There’s pretentious art, pretentious culture, pretentious talent, etcetera. The meaning of pretentious is attempting to impress by affecting greater importance, talent, culture, etc., than is actually possessed. Thank you, Mac Dictionary. So next time you’re thinking of being pretentious, think about that, and then stop. No one wants to read pretentious work or listen to someone speak pretentiously. If you do it without knowing, that’s okay. First time, fine. Second time, I’m concerned. Third time, really, you should know your voice by now. Fourth time, loser. And that’s the double-truth, Ruth.
