Mac Dictionary’s definition:

noun ( pl. -rums ) informal dated
a self-important little man.

ORIGIN early 18th cent.: an arbitrary formation from cock 1.

cock 1
noun
1 a male bird, esp. a rooster.
• [in combination ] used in names of birds, esp. game birds, e.g., moorcock.
• Brit. a male lobster, crab, or salmon.

Why? Well, that’s a good question.

The reason is that when you make love, you’re actually doing that: making love; creating love with another, participating in love because you love them.

If you write that you fucked them, all that meaning is lost.

Fucking is what pornstars do. Fucking is for one night stands that are meaningless sex. You should call it fucking whenever you do it with someone without love.

Fucking is really just consented rape. I mean, think about this way, what’s better:

“We fucked” or “We made love”?

I would think “we made love” as “we fucked” sounds so harsh when someone says it. But if you said “we made love” when you clearly didn’t, well, you’re just lying to yourself, whoever you were with, and whoever you’re telling.

Here’s a passage from my novel Drunk to help you understand love better:

I was now lying in bed with Blaire, with the sheets overtop of us. We had done it, but very slowly. And as the stereotypical man would want to go in fast and hard, it felt so romantic and loving. With my skin pressed up against Blaire’s, it felt like the love from each of us was drifting into the other. I now understand why it’s called “making love” because it seemed any love for each other we had had before, had been heightened and that we actually did feel love go through us.

I personally believe that you should never fuck someone but then I also believe you should never participate in meaningless sex so I think a lot of people would disagree with me here.

I believe that when you engage in sexual intercourse, it should be meaningful and it should be with someone you love. Otherwise, you’re just fucking.

Do it right,

Sam Brinkley was perhaps the world’s greatest authority on pogonotrophy. That’s right, pogonotrophy, the science of beard growing. Sam didn’t start out to be an authority. As a young man he simply became disgusted with the speed with which his beard grew. Twice a day he had to shave the stubble from his face. So, in his early twenties he got mad and quit shaving, his wife’s protests to the contrary. His beard grew and grew — down to his chest, down to his navel and down to his waist.
Scoundrels, Rogues and Heroes of the Old North State, by Dr H G Jones, 2007.

Now, this has been a huge part of my life since my sister was born eighteen years ago; however, recently I was talking to an SEA (Special Education Assistant) about my autistic sister, only to be inturrupted with, “HAS Autism. Your sister HAS Autism, she is not autistic. You say that someone has cancer, not that they are cancerous, right? It’s just a feature of that person but it shouldn’t identify them.” In my bewilderment, I decided to pose this question to everyone else I know in the community: do you say that someone has Autism or that they are autistic?

Surprisingly, I got a bunch of mixed answers. From those individuals NOT on the autism spectrum, they agreed on saying that someone has autism. From individuals that ARE on the spectrum (from higher functioning individuals, as the lower functioning ones do not give two flying fucks), I got an overwhelming response from them that they ARE AUTISTIC. It is such a huge part of their identity that when people refer to them as being basically normal, but are burdened with “having Autism,” they are extremely hurt and offended.

The thing is, I’m wondering what extent this will be taken to. Is someone suicidal, or do they have suicidal tendencies? Is someone Asian, or do they display Asian-like features? Am I a dessertaholic, or do desserts strongly influence my life? Labels are already such a tender topic, but honestly, if we get so wrapped up in which is the politically-correct label to use or not to use, we lose sight of what really matters: the individual themselves, with or without their complications.

My sister is autistic, and she has Autism. Whatever. She’s still my sister, with or without a politically-correct label.

ruffriter:

As a psych major I’m ultra curious about this.

DO YOU EVENTUALLY WANT TO HAVE CHILDREN?

Well, here’s a list of HOW TO RAISE YOUR POTENTIAL OFFSPRING

To do when raising kids:

1. Love them. Love the living shit out of them. Who cares if they’re prostituting themselves for a McDonalds cheeseburger, just tell them, “I don’t approve of that behaviour but I still love you as a person.” Easy as that.

2. Put them on a team sport. Whether it be softball, soccer, water polo or what the fuck ever, just get them involved so they can at least have some sort of ability to actively socialize with people and not make a total fool of themselves.

3. LISTEN. This can’t be emphasized enough. Liiiiisten listen listen to them; how else are you supposed to get effective feedback? Let them tell you about their shitty drawing that they’re so proud of. Let them tell you about that person they’re banging. Let them tell you about the drugs they’ve tried. Just LISTEN, for fucks sake, and let them feel important enough for your undivided attention.

4. Don’t have kids if you’re not going to be open to everything about them. If they’ll be gay, if they’ll be a goth, if they’ll have Down Syndrome or Autism or ADHD or be a conservative or a communist, you better damn well be ready to deal with that. If not, then what are you doing, hoping nurture will win over nature? Don’t count on it, friend.
